Zoom eLearning Networks (ZEN) Inc. has an experienced management team that is capable of meeting its aggressive growth targets and inspired vision. Full CVs are available upon request. The following are summaries of the key management team.
David (Cyri) Jones, B.Sc., MBA (President)
Cyri is a graduate in Environmental Science from the University of Guelph and has an MBA and a Certificate in Internet Marketing from the University of British Columbia. He has over seven years experience with e-business, technology entrepreneurship and e-Learning.
He was recently the Director of e-Learning at Boston-based Thinq (formerly TrainingNet), the largest B2B marketplace for corporate training. While at Thinq, he led the company's e-Learning strategy and product initiatives including the integration with Learning Management Systems, Web portals and marketplaces such as Ariba, Intelisys and Commerce One. He experienced first hand the dynamics of growing a company from a handful of people to a company with several hundred employees, more than $50 million in financing and an industry leader. Before TrainingNet, he led the Marketing, Customer Service, and Logistics departments for futureshop.ca, Canada's largest consumer electronics retailer and most visited e-commerce site. In this capacity, he helped build the business from two employees to a team of fifty and from no revenues to a multi-million dollar business and a Canadian e-commerce leader. He also championed and developed the “clicks and mortar” strategy that has enabled futureshop.ca to become the leading innovator in Canadian retailing.
Prior to futureshop.ca, Mr. Jones was a Product Manager with the BC TEL Yellow Pages (GTE subsidiary), responsible for the company's Internet strategy and bcyellowpages.com product initiatives and sales channels. Prior to this, he started EIS, Canada's leading information digest for corporate environmental managers, and won the B.C. Schulich Scholarship for Entrepreneurship for this iniative. He also was awarded the Pacific Telecommunications Council's Research Prize in 1998 for a research paper proposing a content mark-up language and Web-based knowledge marketplace - ideas that ended up seeing explosive growth through emerging XML-based protocols, content management and syndication.
Prior to his work with ZEN Inc., he was the lead instructor at the Bodwell Internet School for e-commerce, entrepreneurship, e-Learning, wireless technologies and XML and was the project manager for Bodwell's e-Learning initiatives where he led a campus portal project and e-Learning course development.
Frank Yan, B.Sc., MBA, CFA (Vice President - Finance and Operations)
Frank Yan is a Chartered Financial Analyst and also holds an MBA from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and a B.Sc. (double) Marketing and Environmental Economics degree from Shanghai Jiatong University in Shanghai, China. Prior to coming to Canada, Frank was the Manager, Investment and Trading for Lung Tai Co. Ltd. (Japan) where he managed a team responsible for East China operations. He analyzed and traded securities on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and was involved with business development for several new lines of business. He also held a position of Investment and Trading Manager for GuangDong Provincial SEZ Development Co. in Shenzhen, China where he conducted business plan for an investment project in Australia.
He is currently Sales Manager for the Asia and Pacific Region for a leading automobile manufacturer. In this capacity, he develops new business opportunities in the Asia Pacific region and sources and supplies auto parts to overseas customers. Prior to this, he worked as a Financial Analyst for the automaker with financial budgeting and forecasting, and operations analysis for revenue, cost and profitability. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and has a working knowledge of Japanese.
Frank is an expert in international trade, logistics and financial management and also provides expertise in the Asian e-Learning marketplace.
Andres Perez - B. Sc. (Vice President - Information Technology)
Andres Perez is a graduate in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. He has over five years experience as a multimedia developer and programmer. Most recently, he was a Senior Authorware Developer and Authorware instructor at Bodwell Internet School in Vancouver, British Columbia. Here he built sophisticated on-line simulations for Desktop applications and co-ordinated Bodwell's e-Learning design team.
Prior to Bodwell Internet School, Andres was a Senior Software Developer for four years at Icono Multimedia Ltda. in Bogota, Colombia, where he designed and developed an Intranet for ABN-AMRO Bank; a website for the United Nations; an email broadcast system for LegisFAX; a financial website for Horizonte; on-line directories for Prooficinas, Dic, Confecciones & Textiles and A-Z (construction sector); a pet health recommendation engine for Purina; a vocabulary workshop test generator for Opus Educational Software; a CD for Convenio Andres Bello enabling users to search and browse the cultural laws for Hispano-American countries; a video game for Colpatria Salud teaching teenagers in a graphical and interactive format the dangers of substance abuse; and Yellow Pages™ CD-ROMs for Legis S.A.
Prior to Icono Multimedia, Mr. Perez was a Software Developer for Legis Editores, where he specialised in Yellow Pages™ on-line directories. Concurrent to this position, he also worked as a freelancer on the following multimedia and programming projects: Software Developer for Camaleon Multimedia Ltda. where he taught computer programming and Authorware and developed some project using Authorware and Access; A Software Developer at Cosmologia Ltda. where he developed an Authorware game that taught science to teenagers, and at M&M Multimedia Network Ltda. where he developed a company profile CD-ROM for Colinagro and several multimedia kiosks for San Andres, Marlboro and Cadenalco.
Mr. Perez' speciality is the development of effective, interactive educational websites, CD-ROMs and on-line courses using leading tools such as Macromedia Authorware, ASP, Dreamweaver, Javascript, MSSQL, Access, Perl, and Visual Basic. Mr. Perez is fluent in English and Spanish and provides expertise in the Latin American e-Learning marketplace.
Biljana Zecevic - B. Fine Arts., B.Educ. (Director - Instructional Design / Multimedia)
Ms. Zecevic is a graduate in Fine Art from the University of Sarajevo with a minor in Pedagogy and is also a graduate in Education from the University of British Columbia. Ms. Zecevic has over ten years experience in teaching adults, children and high school students and is an expert in effective instructional design, learning styles and the impact of high-quality multimedia and design in optimizing learning objectives. Concurrent to her work with ZEN Inc., Ms. Zecevic is a part-time Fine Arts and Career Planning Instructor at Century College International. Ms. Zecevic is fluent in English, Spanish and Serbo-Croatian and has a working knowledge of Russian and Italian. She provides expertise in the European e-Learning marketplace.
