Peer evaluation and course feedback
Hello everyone,
Here is the peer evaluation form. You need to complete this form for each of your team members (you don't evaluate yourself). Please complete this by Monday, March 3rd by 9:00 a.m. so that I can post your marks. If you want to see your average peer evaluation score or view your feedback, you can drop by my office during office hours in Term B (office hours will be posted on my door, SE6-360 at the beginning of Term B).
Here is a brief self-assessment form that you need to complete.
Here is the course feedback form. It is optional but your feedback is appreciated.
I should have your Quiz 2 marks graded and entered into my.bcit.ca by the end of next week (along with your other grades... projects, wikipedia articles, etc.).
If you submitted your wikipedia style article by the early-submission deadline and want to resubmit it, please just send me an email to let me know that it's ready for re-marking.
Once again, you all did an excellent job on the projects... most looked like professional, industry quality presentations and handouts. Please be sure to pass on your findings to your clients. Also, if you haven't already sent me an electronic copy of your presentation and handout, please email these to me (I think I am just missing the presentations from set BMGT2B... forgot to get them from you before the lab ended).
Good luck with your exams and have a nice break after that.

Feb. 19th Lecture
1. Course update
- presentations this week
- set rep should assign someone to book the LCD and laptop if they haven't already for the presentations
- I will randomize the presentation order... if your client is attending your presentation, let me know and I w
- you should present as though you were presenting to your client... in most cases, this would mean business attire
- quiz 2 next week will be a case study... it is open book and you can use any notes you have as well... you should answer the case questions using point form... you won't have much space for your answer so the emphasis is on quality of your ideas, not quantity... remember to use critical thinking
- beer game video (if you recorded any video, please submit to the OPMT 1100 share-in folder or via CD-ROM if that's easier for you). Thanks for your help. The OPMT Dept. is putting together some YouTube videos as part of a promotions initiative... I would like to use in future classes.

- consider the very different viewpoints of stakeholders
- consider how one's one frame of reference may cause bias (e.g. the case talked a lot about manufacturing jobs lost offshore but doesn't talk about the job gains in other sectors... whole concept of trade is that each nation should not try to produce everything)
- easy to criticize how companies do business, difficult to come up with alternative approaches that are sustainable and aren't just for "rich market niches"
- as a society we need to develop better metrics for success criteria (e.g. GDP only tells part of the story, big box retailing usually leads to less trust amongst local community members and reduced happiness even if it does often mean the lowest price)
- how much of a premium are we willing to pay for community, clean air
- efficiency isn't everything
- externalities

Test makeups
For those that missed the quiz or part of the quiz and contacted me about the reason, you can write a make-up quiz in your lab this week. I don't believe anyone from the ITMG set missed the quiz, so this should only apply to BMGT 2A, 2B and HRMG 2A.

OPMT Quiz 1 Update
If you missed this morning's quiz, please email me (cyrijones2@gmail.com) with a brief overview of the reason (e.g. transportation problem due to the weather, where you were coming from, etc.). I will be reasonable but will be more sympathetic if you tried to reach me to let me know you would be late and/or you had extenuating circumstances.
I will post an announcement by tomorrow morning on the course site for how I will handle missed quizzes with a valid reason (e.g. transportation issues beyond your control). In any event, be prepared to write a make-up quiz in your lab this week.
If you arrived late to the quiz today and only completed Part 1, please be prepared to write a make-up Part 2 in your lab this week. Bring the Wal-Mart case and any notes you may want to use for Part 2 since it's open book.
For everyone that did make the quiz today, I know it was difficult having your quiz delayed and then another weather/transportation challenge to make it on time. I will take this into consideration when marking. It would likely have been more difficult for you if we had delayed it again so good that you made your best efforts to attend.
